I received an Outstanding International Alumnus Award
Oct 01, 2024In 2023, I received Griffith University’s Outstanding International Alumnus Award in the Arts, Education, and Law Group. Receiving this award is a truly wonderful experience, but what makes this recognition especially dear to my heart is the fact that it comes from Griffith University. Griffith isn't just where I earned my PhD; it's where I had the privilege of working with dedicated colleagues to pioneer an applied theatre and drama education programme in Hong Kong. The award, in essence, is a testament to the power of our collaboration.
Behind every achievement lies a narrative of individuals who've taught me, supported me, and given me the confidence to pursue a remarkable and meaningful career. This award is a tribute to my teachers, mentors, friends and students who have all played pivotal roles in shaping the person I am today. It also pays homage to Hong Kong, my home city, which served as the nurturing soil for my upbringing and career development.
Above all, the award honours the unwavering support from my beloved family through life's ups and downs. My husband travelled a long distance to join me at the awards ceremony in Australia, while my siblings and their families tuned in to the live-stream with exhilaration and tears. And, as I gazed upward, I saw Dad and Mom watching from above, undoubtedly beaming with pride. I love you all!
See here for an interview I did in connection with the award.
